Non-PC-literate people keep asking when will the power of PCs be enough. Then we see film footage like this and know how very far we have to go before PC power will even be close to what we want from them.

I can imagine how it would be if that ever really got off the ground: someone with a real thing for italics, caps, punctuation, acronyms, and cute spelling tricks would start leaking the commands into everyday speech.

I’m still expecting some day to actually hear someone phonetically say “LOL”.
But if the software worked correctly, you would never have to verbally give SGML instructions. The application would pick up on your tone of voice and get at least 90% of the punctuation and formatting correct. Following up then to edit would be a snap.
