I really love this painting and would like to get a print of it,have it nicely framed to hang in my living room .
Does anyone know if its possible to get a print and where?

What? What’s wrong? I’m sure it’s high quality velvet.
Just throwing this out there as a warning to art print buyers… I had a really bad experience getting a copy of Miranda the Tempest by Waterhouse via http://www.art.com. They sent me their version of the print (after my local frame shop destroyed my original print whilst “mounting it”) and their copy was horrible. It was printed on horribly thick paper and the colors were all wrong. Not even close to the original painting, much less my ruined original print from a museum!
Just wanted to warn any of you before you run into a major hassle like I did! You are probably better off sticking with prints from physical shops you can visit, or better yet, the museum where the original is housed.

I got my Limerick Piper from the nationalgallery.ie as well. Actually the frame I had made for it cost more than the bloody print, but it sure looks nice on the wall.

I don’t see it on the National Gallery website now, but last time I was in Ireland, I saw it in tourist-type places such as the Bunratty Castle gift shop. You might try NPU as well.

Another mugger at work wi the aid of a dug whit has also grabbed someones shoe…

Try here They have a few irish piper prints. I didnt realise they were quite as dear as all that. When I were a lad you could get a poster for three quid

Limerick Piper (Restrike Etching) is a print done using the original etched plate from Victorian times. The plate is probably a good bit worse for wear since the artist created it all those years ago. You could ask for a simple digital print of it like the Merry Company 1562 if they have a good enough resolution copy of it. I recommend not getting it printed to canvas though. Paper all the way.

Ps- The Limerick Piper painting from the first post is still hanging in the National Gallery in Dublin. Go and see it if you can. I got a postcard of it from there and I have a sneaking suspicion they will do a print of it for you if you enquire even though its not on the website any more.
NPU has reprinted several old paintings in An Píobaire. Maybe you could go through some old issues to see if they have more info on the pics you like. Once you have the names of the pictures and the artists, you would have enough info to do a web search for prints.

The Limerick Piper painting from the first post is still hanging in the National Gallery in Dublin.
In fact Haverty painted a number, at least three, of versions of the image. One of which is in the National Gallery of Ireland. Another copy that used to hang in Lissadell House was sold at auction to a private collector a few years ago. That last copy was the original, sold to Sir Josslyn Gore-Booth who exhibited the painting at the Cork exhibition in 1852. William Smith O’Brien commissioned Haverty for a copy of the painting which was presented to the National Gallery in 1864.
The piper is usually identified as Patrick O Brien from Labasheeda, co Clare.
There’s something about the graininess and slightly over-saturated color of these images that really reminds me of old North Korean propaganda posters…All hail the pleasant national music of the proletariat! Only the Great Leader can play a full three octaves on his chanter…
