I have to admit that I am losing on the first argument. So far in the past two weeks, we have a new roof on the garage and six new windows for the house, and that is just in the house repair category.

Egads man get your priorities straight! Yer flute are made of PVC pipe for heaven’s sake…who cares if the roof & windows leak.

I used to go out for a coffee drink every day. I added it up. The daily coffee and muffin was worth $1440 a year!

It’s funny how the better halves will look askance at your several hundred dollar instrument but not even blink an eye at hundreds, even thousands of dollars spent needlessly on stuff that doesn’t last more than a few minutes and then it’s gone forever.

Just wish to add this:

I’ve played the Sweetheart G, A, C and high D.
I think these are professional level, they compare
well with anything out there. There may be better
flutes in these keys, but if so, not by much.

Also I’m finding the cherry flutes very expressive.

These higher pitched flutes are very helpful in
developing embouchure, IMO.

yes, i forgot that i have a Sweetheart rosewood in F, i got it for my daughter when she was 9 years old and the tone holes were too far apart for her, but now, she plays any D flute with ease, it’s a good flute with solid tone.

My daily Sweetheart, in D, is of cherry, and your comment is right on the mark. It is also quite responsive, and offers a range of colors, from sweet, to edgy. All that in a relatively inexpensive flute! However, if the player is having an “off” day, the flute also reflects that, immediately.

Recently, I got one of the new Resonance models, which plays a little differently, but I’m beginning to like it, too.

I had a chance to play one of those when I last visited Lark In The Morning.

Very nice flute - I had to force myself to put it back down. Very easy to play, even with my on-and-off-again embouchure. And surprisingly light compared to my D flutes.

I also, have a Sweetheart D flute in cherry. It is a lovely flute.

I will probably be putting it up for sale soon as I am expecting a new flute this week. I really can’t afford to keep two flutes even though many people have told me that I should.

In a manner of speaking, good finger technique involves very quickly LIFTING the keys, to thereby allow them to quietly settle onto their bumpers. That is, a key can only lift as quickly as its spring can lift it, and then with just the right deceleration by a finger, it can be quietly rested onto its bumper.
