Thank you Lesl!!!

The Mike Rafferty tune book is great!!!

Thank you so much!

I second that! Mine came in the mail yesterday. Great collection in a very nice format.

AAAAHHHHH!!! I hate the mail!

Mark

I’m still waiting for mine too. And I know it’ll be a source of great stuff!

For me it’ll be a switch to go back to note-reading; during the last several months I’ve been mostly listening to learn tunes. It’s interesting to have shifted modes so much.

You’re very welcome folks. I’m sorry for the mail delays too. The postmistress says to expect a week, and not unusual for 2 weeks. I thought it was suppose to be 4 days..

Even though it’s a book, may I suggest to play the tunes you pick, into a tape recorder, shut the book, and then learn them with the ears..

I received my book quickly, and am blown away by it!

What a wonderful resource.

Mary

Kudos to Lesl for all her work in putting together such a wonderful collection. What a legacy!

Just got mine about 30 minutes ago. It looks great. Very worth the wait for media mail to do its thing.

Mark

Lesl’s work is wonderfully thorough. The tunes are double indexed: an index of tune titles, and then also an ABC index so you can say, “Gee, what’s the name of the one that starts with dum-diddle deedle dee?” and find it right away.

It’s interesting how many variations there are on some of these tunes, and how attached one becomes to playing a certain version. There are quite a few whose A part I recognize, and the B part goes somewhere different than I’ve ever been before.

Jennie

I’ve given Lesl a private laud, but thought I’d laud her efforts publicly too. This is a book of value beyond it’s price.

Cheers,
Aaron

I’m Sooo glad mine came in time for the long weekend. I’ve gone through a couple dozen jigs this evening and am having a blast. I’ve set my sights low for this weekend: rack beer, make beer, make bread, play tunes from this book.

What Lesl said about delivery time is absolutely correct. Mine was postmarked 18 days ago, and I live less than 200 miles from her. The package looked like it had been through a war, but the book itself is in fine shape.

Gee, mine came lickety-split! Less than a week from its mailing. Go figure… maybe the P.O. felt sorry for me, living all this way from the Musical Happenings.

Jennie

I ordered from Ossian–it came in three days.
This is one of the most instructive books about Irish traditional music I’ve owned.

What book? I want one.

Lesl has done a lovely job, this book is worth every penny.

Hey Lesl, when are you gonna give us volume 2? I’m guessing you are close to having another 300 from him by now

Put me down for one.

All the best,

Tom

9 out of 10 fiddle players like it, too! *

*In blind taste tests of 5 tunes and settings. Bill’s opinion not included; void where prohibited by Trad Police. No fiddlers were harmed in the making of this study.

Too bad. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well done, lesl! Got mine yesterday–looks terrific!

Carol

Just joining the chorus here. My copy arrived in a matter of days from Ossian–fast and friendly service. And it’s a terrific book, right up there with Jeff Titon’s collection of old-time Kentucky tunes and the Dungreen book of Cape Breton tunes.

Oooh, nice write up here: http://www.irishabroad.com/news/irishinamerica/entertainment/GalwayLegendCapturedForever.asp
