Got My new seery from this guy, steve…
No more than big thanks for his attention and service.
And … how do you like it … I’m planning to buy one but needs info to be sure to make the good choice ![]()
If you do a search under seery, you’ll find
a lot of discussion. It’s often well thought of, certainly.
Seery is a very good instrument. M&E is much easier to play, but Seery may be a better preparation if you plan to buy a large-holed wooden flute (like a Hamilton, or anything that’s inspired by the Pratten design) later.
I don,t find my seery difficult to play at all.The tone flows easily and my fingers fit in the holes perfectly. The hole size is perfect to do many blue notes and other tricks I enjoy a lot in the playing of people like mike mcgoldrick.I do believe that is a great choice.
Hi there,
glad to here your interested in McGoldrick playing … I’m actually planning to buy a seery just for that reason and because I’ve read some people are playing blues on it without any difficulties … seems tone flexible ![]()
And having heard Danu, it confirms me that one can have a good sound out of it ![]()
How about the air needs for this flute … I’m actually playing a not so bad cylindrical delrin flute with big holes and I was wondering about the difference to be noticed when getting to conical bore…
Cheers,
Nicolas.
Hi Nicolas.
talking about air,I was also told that the seery needed more air pressure than others.I was also used to cylindrical bores(Aluminium and PVC flutes made by myself).BUT what I have found is that for me is not really a matter of air pressure.Instead is about focusing the flow properly wich if you have only a little experience, you can achieve from the beginning.Somebody told me here that the difference with cylindricals was kind a more compressed sound (Together with better intonation in high octave)and I have senn that it is true.Just like when you use a compressor in your sound editor.
Anyway,to sound like Danu´s player,you should be Irish ![]()
