Sometimes I’ll yell PIG! PIG!! In the middle of a session. Usually in the middle of a slow air, and usually towards one of the flute or guitar players. No reason really - I just feel all warm and happy inside when I do it. Doesn’t it work that way for you too Dale?
I recall a couple of years ago reading that Elton John showed up for a concert performance at a big, prestigious hall in London, saw it wan’t a full house, and walked off without performing.
Hmmm… could be the rude, vile obnoxious reporters… I imagine that it would get quite tiring now and again… I don’t doubt that he was at least prtially correct in his description of them. He is a public figure, yes, but he is not public property.
Well…I understand him to be a bit of a spoiled brat…all heresay though, not really fair if I personally have an opinion of the guy. But I have enjoyed his talent over the years.
Well, the article does say that he was “mobbed” and that they “swarmed” him:
British rock star Elton John, in Taipei for a concert, swore at reporters who swarmed around him at the airport on Thursday and called them “rude, vile pigs.”
Wearing a bright blue tracksuit and dark sunglasses, the star shouted expletives as he was mobbed by photographers and TV crew…
I think that adoration and interference are two different things.
He’s been putting up with mob scenes like this for most of his career, spanning from the late 60’s to the present, I suppose it gets a little old after a while and an outburst now and then isn’t surprising to me. Who knows, he may have just come from a fight with his partner and being mobbed set him off. I know that if I stepped outside after having a knock down, drag out spat with my wife I would be vehemently uninclined to being mobbed by the media folk. Whatever the reason, he strikes me as a fellow who needed to vent a little steam. Doesn’t change my opinion of his impressive talent and body of work. Elton John’s influence on me got me out of classical piano and into rock-n-roll piano, thusly a greater circle of friends. Thanks Elton, go on and have as many ‘hissy-fits’ as you want or need to.
