Summer flute/music events in Ireland

would that be the euphemism for coming home drunk, having the hangover and not being allowed out again?

Wow! I had given this thread up for dead after the first couple replies. Clearly I need to be more patient.

Now I’m starting to think I might hit the Willie Clancy week for a day or two, but not much more. I never have been much of a crowd person.

Since it was posted so early and was mentioned by one of the sessioners here in Saskatoon, I’ve given the Limerick Blas school quite a bit of thought. I like that it’s two weeks, and having everything at the university seems really handy. The “academic” slant they seem to be advocating is also a bit appealing (I should probably take advantage of this now as opposed to a few years from now when I’m not so academically inclined!) The price is something to consider, but if it’s quality stuff it might be worth it. Any other thoughts on the Limerick school?

Thanks so much for your input!

Go for it Meaghan! You won’t regret it.
According to Blas’ facebook site, Kevin Crawford is coming back this year to teach the flute. When I met him last year after a Lunasa gig in Oslo, he told me he liked Blas and the teaching situation there with small classes. With some luck I will be there myself…

Now I’m starting to think I might hit the Willie Clancy week for a day or two, but not much more.

Do realise you can book classes by the week only, not for a day or so.

@Sigmund: Is the 2011 stuff posted yet? It looks to me like it’s still old 2010 info.

@Mr.Gumby: I do realize that. I was thinking of going for some of the sessions, not the classes. That way I won’t feel “trapped” in the craziness, and I can stay up really late without having to go to class in the morning!

Sorry, just noticed that you said Facebook. Oh boy…not sure I’ll be able to say “no” to this one…

Flute tutors at Blas this year will be:
Aileen Dillane, Niall Keegan, Kevin Crawford, Majella Bartley, Cónal O’Gráda

I’ve put in my registration for Blas. Thanks a lot for all your input!
