One other question for you or anyone else who happens to be reading, what style pad is appropriate? I’m assuming the ones listed as “white kid” are the correct ones, but I see styles such as double bladder, skinless, etc.
This is an old nameless German flute I bought off ebay, the pads are leather covered around cardstock and a small about of padding. However, I don’t know the proper terminology to buy a replacement set.
I’ve tried the silicone trick and it’s working, however I lack the skill to make them look even slightly ‘nice’. :roll:

I think the pad type you’re going to want is clarinet pads. Modern clarinets have a key system much more like simple system flutes than the Boehm flute does.
I believe these are called “purse pads”. Whether anybody other than flute makers would know this, is debatable. Flutists used to make those. If you ask for directions in the “flutemakers” Yahoo group you’ll probably get some instrunctions. I believe Hammy Hamilton’s book has instructions too.
In any case, the flutemakers group would be a good place to ask this kind of question. Lots of makers there.
