I’ve found decent quality cork sheets at art/craft stores, as well as linoleum (floor) suppliers. BTW, you might want to do a different overlap/angle cut than the job on that cork in the photo. I have no problem with thread, either, assuming the tenon has been properly designed for it (ie: grooved).
