Chiffed, your tale reminds me of an excursion to Rhododendron Lake on the island. That was well worth the walk as they were all in bloom. Something I’d like to do again some day.

The turkeys??? ![]()
My husband’s parents use to keep a few turkeys here on this farm. I remember the old Tom- he was one you had to keep an eye on, since he got in a floggin’ mood on occasion. Anyway, Tom said they always had to put up the little ones if it rained or they would loose some everytime- they really did drown in the rain.
I see wild turkeys practically every week on my mail route. I had a momma and babies that I watched all last summer, since they’d end up on the road on occasion. It was fun to see them grow into their own little flock. They fly quiet well.
