Denny, I have to ask this question. IF I was in a spaceship somewhere near these various objects that you post photos of, would they appear to my eyes in the colors as seen in your shots? I know they are collected via radio telescope right, not Hubble, so they are reconstituted but I have never been sure about “colorization.”
Ah, no, no and yep…but the yep varies for each shot.
Some are radio telescope, some are Hubble, some are other.
The data has been manipulated into the human visible range.
For analysis of any of the pictures click on it. That will take you to the picture’s page with a paragraph of explanation. Usually heavily linked to additional information. Sometimes there is a link to the photographer’s site and additional information about the shot.
There is a link to both the main archive and a APOD forum at the bottom of each page. The APOD forum is a good source of even more information…
