Smallest to the biggest

Have you guys seen this?

  • View the Milky Way at 10 million light years from the Earth. Then move through space towards the Earth in successive orders of magnitude until you reach a tall oak tree just outside the buildings of the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory in Tallahassee, Florida. After that, begin to move from the actual size of a leaf into a microscopic world that reveals leaf cell walls, the cell nucleus, chromatin, DNA and finally, into the subatomic universe of electrons and protons. Check it out

It needs music. I was thinking of that song from Sesame Street:

That’s about the size,
Where you put your eyes,
That’s about the size of it.

Thanks, Gilder. It is nice to have my concerns put into the proper perspective. When the Earth finally became visible, I felt emotional, as the Earth is so beautiful.

Far flippin’ out!

Thanks for that, Jack! Waaayyy cool!

Why in every animated bit of Earth that contains Florida do they always have a hurricane coming to get me? Argh!
