New to whistles I love playing slow airs on my Low D and Low G. I have O’ Canainn’s book on slow airs and a few other learner books that include some slow airs in them - are there suggestions by others for additional books, sheet music collections, CD’s, online sources, etc?

I presume you have Tomás Ó Canainn double CD
collection of over 100 slow airs??
This has to be one of the biggest collections, most
of them well played. The samples are very short.
What I did was to edit the samples to give repeats.
At the same time, I added a touch of reverb and,
where necessary adjusted the tuning. I now have
a superb collection of slow airs with authentic
interpretations, phrasing and decorations.
Some of the examples I have heard of Irish Airs
being played, especially by non-Irish, have been nothing
short of listening to someone scratching a blackboard
with their fingernails. And I am not referring to tonal
quality. They grate that much on the sensibilities, so bad
is the phrasing, timing etc.
If you dont have Tomás’ CDs then I advise you to go
and get them. he still has them for sale on his site.

I have the book and CD set and work in it all the time. Some I enjoy - others are rather intimidating at this point.

Pastor, do you have CDs that have good slow airs, ones you love to hear? There are many CDs that have several on them. One of the best things you can do is to listen to them extensively. That makes them much easier to learn. If you need suggestions, I’m sure we can come up with recommendations for spending every dollar you have on CDs done by very good musicians. 
Blackhawk I have the O’ Canainn 2 CD set, Feadog Stain 1 and 2, the CD that comes with the Low Whistle Book and with Williamson’s teaching book. Every dollar might be a push, but my birthday IS coming up…so…?

Sorry I overlooked this thread. A slow source of air would have to include my front left tire. Guess it needs a fipple plug.
