Skelton's "A few more tunes" list?

I’m looking for a listing of tunes on John Skelton’s “A few more tunes” CD, if anyone has them handy. I can contact John if necessary, but I prefer not to bother him unless I have to.

TIA,

Loren
P.S. For those of you who don’t have John’s first collection (CD and Book) “A few tunes” it’s really fantastic, and John is a great (and funny) guy, with a wonderful playing style and feel - take a lesson or two from him if you ever get the chance.

He’ll be teaching flute here in St. Louis for the Tional.

Yup, Mary Bergin will be teaching there as well. A little too far for me to travel from Boston, but it should be a killer weekend of classes for those who can attend.

Carol

Thanks Carol! Geeze, that must have taken you an hour to write out, much appreciated! (for some reason I was thinking the tune list was shorter on the second collection)

Thanks for the other as well - things are a real mixed bag for me right now (some really good stuff going on, as well as some incredible…challenges), but with any luck everything will smooth out by spring time. Hope all is going well with you

Thanks again, I owe you yet another one

I cannot seem to find either of these any of my usual places. Where can we get these?

I got mine at www.ossianusa.com .

C

You can also get them direct from John, which probably helps him out bit financially. I’ll see if I can dig up his contact info, if not, I expect to see him next week and can get it then.

Loren

His email is jlskelton@earthlink.net; it’s on the back of the book so I think it’s okay to publish that here … But I think he’s traveling right now, so you might get it quicker from Ossian.

Cheers,
cat.

Hey Cat,

On some of John’s books there is a different address, a prodigy address, so I didn’t want to post it until I got confirmation with John. I’m guessing the addy you have is correct (you’re taking lessons from him as I recall, right?), but already had a communication on the way to him, so I guess I’ll confirm when I hear back from him.

For those interested in a week long music vacation this summer:

John teaches a week long class at The](http://www.augustaheritage.com/irish.html%3EThe) Augusta Heritage Center - Irish Week which is usually 3rd week of July. Augusta is held at Davis and Elkins College, in Elkins, West Virginia.

I’ve been wanting to go to this for several years, but something always comes up. Maybe 2004 will be the year.

Yep, when smoke signals and drums fail, that’s the one I use. Although … I haven’t seen him since Christmas week, and haven’t heard back from him yet about a lesson this week (unusual, thus leading me to suspect he’s either on the road or across the pond).

However, if I don’t hear from him in a few days, I’ll climb the telephone pole outside the house and start cranking … aaah, life on the farm!

But seriously … if anyone wants his book/CD thing, let me know and I’ll be happy to put in for you at my next lesson – John willing, this Thursday or Friday. And if you’re going to Tionol, I’m sure he’ll have a few there, too. I think they’re $20.

Cat,

I don’t think John’s across the pond as I had a (group) lesson with him on Saturday, and I expect to do the same this coming Saturday (I’m not in Boston at the moment). One way or the other we’ll get folks hooked up.

Loren

Oh, and I suppose I should put in a shameless plug: if you get a chance for a class or lesson with John, grab it. Besides being a wonderful, incredibly tasteful player with a wealth of knowledge about the music, he’s also a great teacher – and a lovely fellow, to boot.

Oh, good. Then you’ll probably see him before I do. Give him my best, will you? Thanks!

Agreed! I dearly wish I were going to be living closer to John so I could take lessons from him on a regular basis!

Loren

Well come visit, man, and we’ll get you hooked up. You can stay at my place; I’ve got room in the chicken house. Or maybe Mr. S’ll put you up in his new woodshed. It’s a lovely thing, indeed.
Okay, home to the chores – and then a little rondee-voo with the newly-returned Hammy!
