Thanks Monster! It’s funny reading my post above, last week i did the same thing with the Silkstone and the aluminum Syn. They have basically the same power, but the Silkstone cuts through a lot better, while the Syn tends to blend in.
Yes, it’s one of those things, i’m not sure this is the one yet. I’m suspecting the Alba SE will be the one, but i haven’t had a chance to try one yet. But it’s proving to be a survivor, it keeps working better than my other whistles. 
Yep, I’m the eternal tinkerer, I put a poster-tak ramp on the blade of the Silkstone, not a big blob mind you but enough to even the octaves out a bit.
Untweaked the lower octave just barks, seems even louder than a Susato I briefly played on, and the upper octave would at times want to jump to the lower, giving me a horrible spleeeaaahhh or a chirp. I decided to try this after looking at the whistle and noticing there is no ramp whatsoever. I don’t know, no one else seemed to be having this sort of problem, maybe my whistle is terminally unique. 
Basically no ramp on mine either, just the edge of the tube.
Glauber, I didn’t mean that I thought my whistle was somehow accidently built without a blade ramp! I just meant that Adding a ramp, might seem like a good idea.
