Does anyone have any experience with this whistle? Funny, but kidding around with Serpent in another thread, I threw out some “idea” for a whistle and this seems pretty close - black polymer with metal ferrules. Not the seven-hole + model, this one’s expensive enough and simpler is better for me. Appreciate any feedback.

I played one once for a short time at a session. Its not worth the price. I’ve never liked Silkstones and this didn’t impress me. My 2 cents.

It’s my understanding that the ‘Ace’ is just an ultra-fancy version of Paul’s polymer whistles.
If you don’t like Silkstones in general, it only stands to reason that you wouldn’t like the Ace either.
On the other hand, if you do like the ‘regular’ Silkstones, and are in the market for a very nice high-end whistle, you’d probably be quite satisfied with an Ace.
I personally wish that Paul would make all of his PVC whistles available in tunable versions, and that he’d use the internal version like the one on his PVC low D whistles.
Internal tuning slides look much nicer, and produce far less accoustical disturbance than external tuning slides… just my 2¢ worth.

My first high-end whistle was a silkstone. I love it and play it every day.
It’s quite loud, in tune and has a pure tone.

This is certainly true; I doubt that Paul would change the character of his whistles. I’m one who likes his whistles, but I would hesitate to put up the extra bucks for something that sounds pretty much like his PVC or alloy whistles.
That said, and addressing Don’s remarks, I’m not at all sure that a few minutes’ worth of playing can give one a full appreciation of the potential of a whistle like this. I was initially underwhelmed with my first Thin Weasel. I found it too much like the PVC that I’d paid 1/4 the price for. But after 6 months I couldn’t believe that I’d been so naive in my initial reaction; it’s simply a remarkable whistle, with a depth and complexity that the PVC doesn’t have. BTW, the TW was secondhand, so it likely wasn’t a matter of the break-in period.
You might be right about needing more playing time to appreciate the whistle.
I did have an alloy model for a few months. The Ace seemed very similar. What I didn’t like about it was that the sound was very closed and like a recorder somehow. I just didn’t like the tone of it very much and the few minutes with the Ace seemed to produce the same sort of tone. I could possibly justify the price of the alloy model but not the Ace.
