Sessions in Belfast?

I’ll be in Belfast for a few days in early September. Any recommendations on the session scene there? The only place I’ve heard much about is The Duke of York, but I have no idea if it’s all that it’s cracked up to be or not. Any info about it and other good session spots in the city?

Bout ye pitchfork?
The question on Belfast sessions has been asked before, here is a link to the previous query, just scroll down and you will find a few pointers from me for a nice stroll around Belfast and the types of pubs and sessions you should find there.

Good luck, and take an umbrella!!

i know theres a session at the John Hewitt (wobsite: http://www.thejohnhewitt.com/) in the cathedral qaurter. I used to drink there as a child and listen to the ‘didilly dee’ with some goths in the wee alcove, loooooong time ago;
Thesession.org says its still active im not sure if its particularly friendley, i was allwayse under the impression that it was a session for all the world class players, invite only stuff.
But my info is very out of date, i was very young, all i know is that its still going.

my goal when im back at christmas is to sit down with those great players and not get throwen out… immidiatly. I think that would be a good benchmark for me.
if any chiffer can help me achieve that goal theres a pint in it :wink:

Thanks for the info, CWM (and Chris)! Looks like a pretty exhaustive list, and no shortage of good sessions to seek out.
