recorder mop availability?

I’ve been using Kimwipes, which are a lint free disposable lens cleaner. But they’re a hassle. My new Mollenhauer alto recorder came with a stick with a small chamoise wick attached. this is good. I looked for refills, or another such thing on-line for my soprano but nothing came up. Where do people find semi-permanent mops for daily drying?

Sarah Jeffreys mentions using a sock, but all mine are far too thick for a soprano.

On a related note: I oiled the new Denner alto but the plastic-y tube that came with the Moeck oiling kit was a bit small for the windpipe section–I couldn’t seem to get the oil to spread in that section. this same tube seemed super tight for my soprano when I oiled it. Maybe I’m being too obsessive.

Old handkerchiefs, bits of shirts, that kind of thing.

Don’t oil inside the windway, on the voicing chamfers or the actual blade (labium).

I put a cotton rag (as Peter Duggan said, old hanky, or whatever) on the plastic stick, put the oil on the rag and wipe the rag around inside the recorder. My teacher’s trick for avoiding to get oil into the windway: Cut a piece of cardboard the width of the labium, longer than your headjoint is wide, and push it into the window so that it blocks the windway from the inside.

Can’t say anything about the tube in the oiling kit as I’ve never had this kit…
