rebuilding .dbx files

Help please.
I was in my inbox and I thought my inbox on my PC had crashed the computer so I pressed the reset button. !!! Big mistake
Now my inbox has disappeared. It appears you can purchase soft ware to rebuild dbx files but i can only find programs that cost money:(:frowning:
Does any body please know of a way of regaining my inbox along with my emails, with out it costing my hard earned cash :frowning:

The inbox and contents are in OE but it will not open

the problem with inboxes in microsoft land is that there actually mini databases, so if its knackered, its probably all knackered unfortunitally.

That’s not very encouraging

Hi Pammy

Maybe this can help

I have observed that often software upgrade wizards are able to cope with dbases that the version you’re running can’t read. If there’s an upgrade you have haven’t installed, now’s a good time. This might also be the case for the install wizard designed import your inbox into some other email program, like Thunderbird. These usually are designed to make the transition as painless as possible, and that often means that they have smarter db repair proceses built in.

Also, you can open .dbx files in MS access. If you have office installed, you might try it to see if you can open and save coherent data. Worry about getting it back into your outlook later.

Thanks BigDavy

I am checking that out now as I write. I have found two other sites that offer a free download, find the files, wave them in front of your nose and then say you can have them if you pay us. I am wondering if this site is the same.
Easy Outlook Express Repair $27 and Stellar Phoenix Outlook Express $39

This one looks like it may be $59

I will wait and see

Thankyou too s1m0n

I have tried MS access but I never could work the thing out.

I have corrupted the inbox, I assume, by pressing the reset button and although the data is there I just can not find a way to open it. I don’t think an upgrade would help but I don’t know.
I hate doing upgrades, everything changes and not for the better sometimes and then I have to get into that 5th dimention of ‘computer time’ (where I am now) that time flies past so quick but it only feels like half an hour has gone but it is three hours later in real life.

When the pizza boxes block the door it’s time to give it a rest and tunnel out.
