Once in a while I feel regressive and get to thinking that I should try to understand the whistle more than I think possible. I’ve been having one of those weeks, so I went over to see what was going on in the whistle forum again.
Um, the whistlers are boring. Oafish, chumpish, outright hebetudinous!
I think I’ll stick with my uilleann pipes.

I think we should loan jim_mc a practice set for about 6 weeks… then wait to see how promptly he returns it.
I’ve ran “poststructural” through various online dictionaries, and gotten nada. A Google search firstly reveals C&F, and then an avalanche of usages in doctoral thesis type contexts. Some sort of hip buzzword, maybe an insight into what Dale does when he isin’t being an Internet Journalist? The whistlers seem pretty freaked out in some cases. I’ll have to check for a digiredoo message board, hmmm. Musical saw message board? Glass harmonica? Theremin? Theremin’s a sure thing for a message board.
Now that would be esoteric. Or boring. Can you tweak a theremin? And aren’t they all trying to play Scriabin or some such muck?

I re-read what I wrote and that could be taken both ways… I decided to leave it.
If he were to only have the pipes 2-3 weeks they would probably be returned and written off as a frustrating experience.
I’d wager after 4-5 weeks he would get over the frustration and actually start making music. By the 6th week he’d be asking to keep them longer.
Looks like we’ve got a little Star Wars going on here, perhaps a little inter-galactic absorbtion…the Milky Way absorbing the Sagittarius Dwarf Galaxy…the whistle forum trying to absorb (understand) information posted on the uilleann pipe forum. Slim chance! The systems circling within the pipes are way beyond thee, whistlers.
But feel free to visit and listen in. You may need our teminology someday as you grow. Don’t forget the sign.
are we forgetting the reality of multiple addictions here? i cross back and forth between the two forums as freely as a drunken sparrow.

I remember one of the whistlers came to visit our forum late one night, and hoping to spark some converstion, said “hello” in a foriegn language. I nodded and waited for some sign of intelligence…but alas, nothing, nada. 
Yeah, I think it was “Olestra!” or something.
What, you mean like the margarine? No wonder there was nothing of substance!
