about the pakistani pipes that seem to be not very good by general consensus, the one thing i wanted to know is whether the traders who sell them know themselves how badly these instruments are talked about on forums like this, or if they are genuinely in the dark as to the disappointment they cause excited newcomers - they must know musn’t they?
It stretches the bounds of credulity to claim ignorance in this day and age, where information about all and sundry is readily available to one’s fingertips. Of course they know - it is why they only try to charge such (relatively) small amounts for their product - they prey upon the ignorant, and gamble that the procedures involved for claims of recompense act as sufficient deterent.
The only way to put these CENSORED out of business is to refuse to purchase, but unfortunately, (as the saying goes,) there’s one born every minute. I name them as CENSORED because there is nothing more destructive to the enthusiasm and aspirations of a beginner than that of an instument which is unplayable through poor design or manufacture. If we have no-one to pass our musical heritage down to, who will play the tunes to carry our souls when we are gone?
They don’t care.. These are basically sweat-shops that have older tooling that they can turn to produce a variety of products and make a buck. in the scottish meime they produce low cost clothing accessories for pipe, bands and as a sideline try to sucker people into purchasing a set of worthless pipes that they then have to replace with something that works. there is a sucker born every minute and sombody willing to take advantage. it’s a tale as old as time. look away and advise everyone you know to do the same.
