Tejkumar - First off, welcome to the board. This is a great bunch of folks, and they’re exceptionally helpful.

I recently started making bamboo flutes myself. Here is a link for hole placement and size:

http://www.cwo.com/~ph_kosel/flutomat.html

It was created for pipe flutes (PVC or CPVC), but if you measure the thickness of the bamboo wall at the end away from the blow/embouchure hole, and use that diameter of the hole, it works well for bamboo, too. ALWAYS make the hole the size smaller and then enlarge it so you can bring it into tune. Also, with this program, you can go from English to metric, change hole sizes and keys.

Here are two good general flute making pages (again for PVC pipe, but the principals are the same):

Good luck and have fun!

Why don’t you check out the Flute-Tech group on Yahoo. You can join up and scan the archives. More information than you really want on making flutes.

Ronbo - Are you a member? If you are, could you post a question asking if anyone else is having problems joining?

I’ve had membership pending for over a month, sent a message to the Yahoo owner’s link, but nothing has happened.

I’ve love to join, but seem stuck…

It was easy to join a couple of months ago, but several spammers got onto the board and really messed things up. They have a much tighter policy now. I will get on and see why you are having so much trouble. Maybe a word from a member can help out your case. Send me a message at ronbo@mindspring.com, listing what name you tried to join under and all that.

best

Ron
