Has anybody used this yet?

I realize that it doesn’t contain the regulator parts, but how detailed are the transcriptions for all the other tunes? Does it include transcriptions for the airs?

2

Yes. As staff notation, and as ABC above the former.

3

Thanks, Pipewort. Just to be sure, you’re saying that airs are transcribed using staff notation and all the dance tunes are in ABC format?

4

No, the airs & the dance music are written out the same. It has the staff notation of the tune but under each note is written the corresponding letter. Variations within the tunes are written out as singular bars below. It’s just like the notations in his “Music for the Irish Pipes” books, if you’ve seen them. There is an example given in “An Piobaire” vol. 12,05 pg.21.

I also just recently noticed all of Pat Mitchell’s tunes from the series are missing from the book.

Thanks so much!
