I have no pictures- I like to enjoy a glass of red wine on weeknights. Red wine from my grapes and by the sweat of my brow, became wonderful with oak. Unfortunately, I’m getting towards the last of these.

But, tonight, my far away daughter brought me a carton of Woodpecker’s cider for mother’s day. I love the stuff but can’t get it around here. So, I’m enjoying it instead.

I’ve got half a bottle of some darn good cabernet from Argentina.
I’ll share.

I have never been able to take red wine. Something in it immediately starts to twist my stomach. White wine is similar, but not as intense as red wine.

But to placate the wine lovers, here’s a special note for the day:

I ended up with an older woman at a club last night. She looked okay for a 57-year-old. We drank a bit, and had a bit of a snuggle and she asked if I’d ever had a Mother’s Day Special.

“What’s that?” I asked.

“It’s a mother and daughter threesome,” she said.

I said, “No. I haven’t. Not yet, anyway.”

We drank a bit more, then she says that tonight was my lucky night. I went back to her place. She put on the hall light and shouted upstairs: “Mum, you still awake?”

Fantastic!

I’m a beer guy, but my wife and father both enjoy quite a bit of wine (my father on a “prescription” for his cholesterol). Wife just finished a bottle of Riesling from a Virginia winery that’s been out of business for five years or so. Good stuff that. Father, believe it or not, drinks mostly stuff that I make.

As with djm, red wine makes me ill – even a couple of sips will give me a headache within half an hour. I’m not complaining, the stuff tastes gross to me anyway. A good really cold Riesling or vinho verde, though, I can enjoy, but it’s still not the same as beer.

I’ve been enjoying my own raspberry weizen this weekend. One full, one with half the normal amount of raspberry. Quite yummy.

Loved the story, DJM!

I don’t think he is making that up.
There are actually a lot of people
who get funny reactions with red white.

As long as you avoid the blues you will be okay!

Something that has always totally grossed me out is sherry. My mother loves the Bristol Cream stuff. To me, just a whiff of the stuff is like getting a noseful of highly toxic industrial cleaner.
