I am looking to buy a Overton C whistle and I see from Colin & Brigitte’s webpage that they are offered in two different bore size. I assume that one would be the same as the high D bore, and the other like the Bb and A whistles. Has anyone compared these different bore sizes for the C? Any thoughts on them?
You should really ask Colin about this, I doubt many people have had the opportunity to compare (side by side) the various sizes of C whistles that Colin is currently making.
Having said that, I have a C whistle that Colin made for me out of tubing that is essentially the same bore size as that used for my D Overton. This particular C whistle is Killer, great tone, not too loud, easy to play and it has a great resonance. My favorite C whistle at the moment.
Well…I’d say my C has lower volume at the top of it’s range than my D.
Colin’s A whistle is also phenomenal, I had two and sold one, which I now very much regret - they were both awesome but I ended up keeping the newer and easier blowing of the two, really wish I’d kept both though I hear the Bb is just as good as the A whistle, and IMO Colin’s A is almost as good as his Low F, which is my favorite whistle on the planet, period.
Hey Loren, if you really want your other Overton A back,I could have my arm twisted. I suspect your not quiet ready for it yet, so I’ll hang onto it for safe keeping. By the way, I got rid of most of those minor scratches.

Does “Arm Twisted” mean “Will cost big bucks”? I’m still broke at the moment, but I’ll definately let you know when I’m back in the black - That A, the last Blackwood Rose, and my Copeland Nickel C are just about the only whistles I really miss of all the ones I’ve sold. Wish I had them all back (sigh)…
Anyway, thanks man, I’ll get back to you on it eventually.
And I’m still wondering about those scratches on the mouthpiece, can you imagine chomping on that aluminum? The original owner (not me) must have been a serious biter!
Loren, No,it means that I am not really looking to sell it now. If you do decide that you want it back, you can have it for the same price you sold it for.Yes, it’s a little difficult to believe those marks were made by someone’s teeth but they were not that bad. A light buffing with some steel wool took care of the problem, they are almost completely gone now.

I just got an email back from Colin & Brigitte. Great and very informative! Wow, those who said it was a pleasure dealing with them weren’t kidding. I can’t wait!
It’s a good thing I don’t share an office, it’s kind of embarrassing to start drooling while you read your email…
Colin and Brigitte are so amazingly awesome that I am actually prohibited by a strict non-disclosure agreement from telling you all how awesome they are .
Lest there be any confusion - they are awesome!

They are indeed awesome as another current thread says. I recently was looking for a Low C. Colin gave me a choice of three completely different whistles any one of which I would have been over the moon with. In the end I ended up taking two low C whistles! And they are really amazing.
Yeah, Brendan, I remember your recent rave about the low-C. Can’t wait to hear that on CD…
BTW, I had trouble with your webpage recently, could get the home page, but none of the links on the left worked. It may well by my neolithic browser at work, but I thought I’d let you know b/c I was looking to buy your CD…
