Yup, I saw Jens’ picture just fine the way you posted it.

That’s weird. Yesterday I could not get one of my pics from Geocities to show up with the BBcode but I could using HTML . I just tried that with Jen’s pic using HTML but it didn’t show up for me…weird that it does for you. And also my pics that worked yesterday will not work today. I know Geocities has a rule against linking to pics remotely. This is very annoying to me now so any ideas of another free web-hosting site that will at least allow you to link to your pictures you have on your webpage? Thanks guys.

They’re not all mine. In my travels I encountered a fellow whistler with an empty table and we decided to fill it with whistles.

If you click on edit on someone else’s post, you can see what they did, and copy it, putting in your own pic of course!

LoL Martin…i was trying the same thing to help out and I gave up because of that little white X-box.

LoL@Steve…ya bro, that pic was bigger than the whole screen. Definately cool though!

Steve’s grandkids are complete cutie-pies!!

Thanks Andrea. I kind of think that way myself.

Steve

Hmmm… I’ve never seen a Laughing low-D before. That’s pretty nice looking!

This is Brian and his friend, Ciara, discussing his pipes. (I should clarify that this pic was taken by rambling Beth at our session a couple of weeks ago.)

Here’s a photo of me playing whistle this past Summer at a lake (a big pond really) in a little valley…sounded nice by the water
and reflecting off the surrounding hills

P.S. My image wouldn’t show until I put the img and /img tags right before and after the link to the image (NO Spaces).

Arrrgggg!

Still confused! Sorry, computer tech stuff..whew! I am a show me person. With lots of trial and error.

I checked out those images Martin.
Do you need to go through a web page to place a pic?

Is there a public access place I can go to to send a pic.

And Uriah… whats the Code?

I checked out the FAQ page.. doi… still not getting it.

Oh well, the pic is really not worth fussing over.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGG

Laura

Laura, e-mail it to me and I’ll post it. I private messaged you my e-mail address.
Best,
Chris

Thanks, Susan, for posting it!

Alright, Laura/Hillfolk asked me to post this image. Frankly, it frightens the bejaysus out of me, but here it is anyways :astonished: Don’t blame me if it causes trauma or irrational fear of clowns for the rest of your life!

Beth has a great camera and she took some wonderful pictures. Here are a few more photos she took while she was traveling and kindly shared with us. Hope she doesn’t mind me sharing them here.

My son checking out a few of Beth’s whistles.

Okay, so my cat Fargo isn’t exactly playing a whistle here. However he appreciates whistles in that he doesn’t seem to mind, even seems to like the sound of whistle playing. Here he is asking for a tummy scratch, though the camera flash reflection in his eyes makes him look more like he’s been possesed by one of the crystal people.

Here’s a little something different. The following are links to mp3s of songs my mom (Nadine Laughlin) and I recorded.
The first one is studio recording of a song called “Almost Gone”, which she wrote for her dad when he was dieing of Alzheimers. It has a little bit of my whistle playing on it (Burke composite low G).

The second is a live performance of our arrangement of the hymn “Be Thou My Vision”, featuring her on piano and voice, her band on assorted instruments and myself on whistle (also the Burke). This has considerably more whistle in it. Astute observers will notice that whistle intro is more than a little bit inspired by the air by Tommy Peoples, “The Gentle Breeze”. It’s not exactly the same, and couldn’t be due to time constraints. Tommy is a friend of mine and he was fine with this (be gentle on me here Stevie and Peter… I know how the air really goes… this was just an “artistic decision” ). You’ll also notice that I really mess up a couple of the notes towards the end of the song. We had only rehearsed twice with the whistle and I was a little confused

Anyways, both of these are big files, about 4-5 megabytes each, so they may take a really long time over dialup. One way or the other, I hope you enjoy them. They’re not trad, and not representative of the kind of music I play most of the time, but they are darn nice. I hope you like them. I plan to post a few more over the next couple of days.

Almost Gone

Be Thou My Vision

Chris

Here’s another, much nicer picture sent to my by Laura/Hillfolk for posting. I’m really glad she sent this, because I was in the corner in fetal position crying after this last one. This one’s really, really nice.

Here’s her note that came with it:

"It is me and my children playing an open stage.
No whistles, however we were playing Daggets Revenge
I changed the title to Mommy’s Revenge.
Is that a cuttie pie thing or not? "

Thank you Laura!

Ro3b, I just noticed that you’re Rob Greenway. Cool! I learned a lot from your website and from your posts elsewhere. Thanks for joining us.

Message to Dale Force One :

Get the backup computer ready for upcoming weekend. Some activists* posting mutimegabyte pix files.
PS: Drop the Dell, take a Cray : I got a few panoramas of my extended family plus a couple full-screen QTVR I’d like to share…

  • Learnt my lesson to never, never, NEVER post the word “terrorist” : some lurkers wear black suits and Ray-bans.

None of these files are actually stored on the Chiff and Fipple servers. They’re all stored on the servers of whoever posted them. Therefore they don’t use up any of the Chiffboard’s bandwidth. The only thing that uses up Chiffboard bandwidth is text.
Best,
Chris

Why do they take me serious when I’m not, and vice-versa ?

All I know is we had this long neverending cutey pie thread and the Board blew up like a turkey stuffing after Thanksgiving and if you don’t care for my advice, I’m gonna lurk and see it’s your loss and oh-là-là…

(edited as attempt for krek spelling. Voilà.)
