My bodhran case came today! woohoo! And they left it at the door for me - I left a note and bribed them with candy canes 
Woohoo! Now I have to wait for it to warm up so I can put my bodhran in it - it’s really cold right now!

This is a type of goatskin drum which, when tapped by sticks of varying dimensions and shapes, emits a groaning sound. Please be alert for this new threat and take any steps necessary to stop the fiendish people (sometimes disguised as otherwise normal people) attempting to bring these bod-rans on board our flights."

Neat! How do you like it? What color? I’m assuming it’s the Blue Heron case? Is it worth it. I’m due the Metloef drum sometime around the first of the year and will be getting one for it.
Postal Service brought my Steafan Hannigan “The Bodhran Video” today so I’m all set. Looks like a good one…meaning I think I can learn at least the basics to try to correct being “rythmically challenged” I still maintain that I’m only doing this to help my whistle playing. Really

Hey Jim!
I do like it, it’s black, about 17.5 inches across and holds a 16 inch drum quite snugly. Could be a bit bigger actually, the manufacturer gave my drum height as 3 inches and it’s actually 3 1/4 but it still fits…barely! 
I finished making the inner linings last night too - I made a fleece case for INSIDE the drum so I can pack some stuff inside for my trip. Maybe I’ll take some pics while the cats are out of the room.

This is my totally cool hard low whistle case. A board member gave it to me. I can’t even proclaim her greatness to the board since I don’t know her board name, but trust me, she IS great!
This shows the fleece liners (two seperate half circles) that I made to hold my stuff inside the bodhran without damaging the skin or having stuff rolling around:

Very Cool Jim… You’ll love your Metloef! The 14" is a great size as well… We just got one in that is 14" by 8"!
As long as you commit to “locking in” perhaps by working with a metronome or playing along with recordings, playing a percussive instrument can do wonders for your rhythmic sense… I played a kit drum for a while and came away from it TONS more coordinated… I stopped playing the kit when I got into traditional irish music… Now, my bodhran is my percussive outlet! Next is the bones…
By the way, if you have a cardboard box (bodhran) and and a “cheapie” whistle (tipper), you can go ahead and practice with the video!

Yep, the metronome and I have a love/hate relationship but I know deep down that it’s my friend.
Actually, I ended up with the 20" Halpin drum that you had at one time. In a frenzy of selling, trading and buying I committed to buy it from the person you sold it to. While closing that deal, I listened to Chris Laughlin “wax poetic” about Rob Forkner’s bodhran and made the mistake of visiting the Metloef site and listened to the sound clips. With some correspondence, I found out I had a whistle Rob thought he could use so I’m ending up with two quality drums. We’ll see if I need two
I guess I’m just to impatient. I waited for your site to open to order a bodhran tutorial and when nothing was there the first day, I went ahead and did an Ebay deal. It was ok but would rather have given you my business. Sorry about that but I can already see I will be placing an order after the first of the year. Looking forward to seeing what you have in the way of tippers and leather whistle cases.
