Ormiston flute value

Hi all, I have an Ormiston D non-keyed flute, #111 (on the flute) so I reckon its from pretty early in his career. African blackwood (assuming) and silver. Square emboucher hole! Plays nice, but I can’t manage it due to some issues with my hands and keeping a flute up there. I want to sell it but don’t know what to ask for it, I’m thinking 600 USD? I see that his new flutes (D non-keyed) are going for >800Pounds (>1200 USD!) I don’t know if it would be insulting or not to contact him directly about this. Its in really great shape, no cracks or anything, comes with a neat wood case, interior molded and velvet lined.

thoughts? Thanks

600 doesn’t sound unreasonable. You have the right to set the price. He’s changed the design on his flute to make
it louder, I believe. The squarish embouchure hole is probably not a draw, since many (but not all) ITM players like
the traditional oval. But it isn’t prohibitive, either. Nothing the matter with contacting him and asking his opinion, IMO.
You could charge more and see what happens. But probably not a lot more. What matters is what people are
willing to pay for it.
