O'Riordan Pergatory

Hey Folks,

I’ve been on the wait list for an O’Riordan order for over 2 years. I was just wondering if anyone else is on the list (or recently got their order) and how long you’ve been waiting (had to wait).

I guess I needed a little light for the end of the tunnel.

Thanks,

Vinny

Vinny, I feel better knowing someone is sharing my angst. I ordered, to the best of my recollection, Dec,99. What about you? I get paranoid I’ve fallen off the list or bulletin board, or kitchen drawer, or whatever.
Tony

I envy you, Vinny…I have 2 years yet to go…
Cheers.

Just approaching 2 years on the list; I don’t mind the wait at all but it sure puts sand in my shorts when I find out that people get on the list and order a WHOLE SET in comparison with my one measly aluminum whistle in F. Ahhh, whatever. If I had the $$ too, I’d do the same thing I suppose.

Hey Tony,

Yeh, I’ve had the same thoughts about having gotten lost on the list. I ordered Dec 31, 1999 . . . LAST MILLINNEUM!!

A question that sort of relates to your wait: When these custom-order, long-wait whistles come onto the used market (Ebay, this forum, or private sale) do the whistles tend to command prices that exceed their original cost, based on the fact that they’re available right now? I remember seeing some Copelands on this forum commanding $400+ prices, and wonder if that’s typical in that kind of sales situation.

Don’t tell Mike Milken - he’ll corner the custom whistle market.

Captian,

You have seen correctly. Long wait whistles have tended to come with an increased resale price. However, the folks here tend to be more kind than e-bay. I think most of us would rather see our whistles go to nice homes than to see them sold on the auction block.

Erik

I’m just 10 months in the list. And I was told by Mr. O’Riordan the waiting list was 2 1/2 years then.

Toni.

Hey Corkman,

When I ordered I was told the wait was 22 months. Well things change and I understand that. Your info helps since I guess I’m still within the 2 1/2 year window though so

I got to play one at a session last night, I have to say it revised my opinion of expensive whistles, I would pay the money for one of these beauties.

I guess if the Second Coming happens first, that would be okay. Who’d complain?
Delusionally yours,
Tony
(sorry, couldn’t resist. Father forgive me, for I know not what I do.)
Have I offended absolutely everyone? It’s this darn computer. Can we get a smilie with a tongue-in-cheek expression?

Tony,
Will one of these do?

Thanks, that last one matches my hair style.
Tony

Hey Tony,

Yeah, I think you just put it in perspective. It’s amazing how importance can change in the proper context.

I’m ready to take off!

Patience . . . Patience . . .

Vinny

PS
Ya know, offending someone is really not the worst thing you can do.

Does that offend anyone? I sure hope not.

Would anyone be kind enough to forward Pat O’Riordan’s private email to me so that I can update my address information with him? We don’t have long distance on our phone line, so I can’t call. But I know my 2.5 yrs is up soon too.

If any of you might have his address, please email it to me privately off list as I know he requests his privacy in this regard. Thanks!
