I have just heard from Patrick that my head joint for my R&R will be ready in 30 days. Apparently the cocus has been seasoning for the past year… All the better, I suppose. I would like to hear from any who might have an Olwell head joint on their R&R. I tried out one of Patrick’s hj’s on my flute before I ordered and had the impression that it turned my R&R into an Owell-ish sounding instrument. Anyone have a similar experience? I’m playing a fairly small holed R&R. It’s got plenty of ooomph, but isn’t a really loud flute. I am often drowned out at sessions.

My own Rudall (#6208) with Patrick headjoint is terrific. It replaces (supplants, actually) a Patent Head that was too heavy for me to handle over sustained periods.
I love the flute and Pat’s work. Terrific. You’ll love yours, too.
And I have your flute in the catalogue, right??

David,
you definately have my flute in the catalogue (#7114, I believe). What’s you opinion of the changes in timbre, etc. I originally decided to get another hj because I had to pull the hj out so far to be in tune at a=440. I think Patrick has adjusted the chimney height on the new head. Not sure what other changes he might have made. By the way, the flute palys wonderfully as is.

duh
my bad
i have seen so many…
anyway…the chimney height will get a stronger bottom. Very impressive.
You won’t have to adjust the head so much anymore.
Basically it will play stronger and fuller.
And more booming (at least mine did).
