Just to let you know, a great Irish music workshop / retreat is now open for registration - the O’Flaherty Irish Music Retreat in Midlothian, Texas in late October. This is near Dallas and has great classes by some world class instructors, such as Liz Carroll and Martin Hayes on fiddle, John Doyle on guitar, Jimmy Crowley on bouzouki as well as classes in mandolin, flute, uilleann pipes, tenor banjo and every other kinda thing. I have gone several years as a piping student and this year will be teaching the mandolin class. I have been to several other camps and can honestly say this one is my favorite, as it is all about learning, with some partying and sessions thrown in, but the learning and immersion is the focus. Not to be missed.
