Hi, everyone, this is a great site. I just got a sweetone whistle in the key of C, and I can’t find online what the notes the different holes are. Could someone explain to me what they are?
Thank you.
All fingers down is C
First five down is D
First four is E
First three is F
First two is G
First one is A
No fingers is B
Blow slightly harder for second octave.
Awesome, I thought there were accidentals. Where would the C be located on a staff, middle C?
yup, it’s middle C.
and if you ever have to play something in F, you can probably make the Bb allright by going OXXOOO, (2nd and third from the top)
The bell note (bottom C) on a (high) C whistle will sound c’, that is the c above the third line of a treble-clef staff. It would be typically notated an octave lower, though, as middle c (below treble-clef staff).
Accidentals: there are none in c-major that your c-whistle will play, but with the “c-natural” fingering, oxxxox or oxxooo, you’ll get a Bb.
Why do want to know all this?

You’re with stupid? Which one of us, though, antstastegood or Bloomfield?
I’m with Bloomfield.
Cause he’s right.
Because I’m oh-so curious, and then I can write down little tunes on a staff (which I’ve been attempting to learn how to read off of). And if I look up the whistle equivelant to guitar tabs then I’ll know what they mean by an E note…without knowing the notes I wouldn’t be able to follow written instructions too easily.
Most whistle accidentals happen when people try to drive and play at the same time.
Hey, I can steer quite well with one hand and a whistle in the other!
Aww crap I am stupid. How did I miss this subtle point for six months??
(insert string of profanity here)
Enjoy youth. Once you’re my age, you’ll get to miss subtle points for decades.
I’ve missed points for longer, don’t worry about it. ![]()

I’m hoping that by the time I get old enough to miss subtle points that senility will have taken effect…hopefully.
Fixed with the magic if editing..
You might buy a D whistle, too.
They’re standard for celtic music,
C is less useful.
Oops, I messed up the quote thing… Anyways, a trifle offtopic, but Cranberry, your avatar makes me sad…it’s horrid, so depressing…
I did not write that.
I wanted a D, all the store had was Cs I think…I’ll get one sometime.
The sweetone D is fine.
