I’m new to this board. Have played the tin whistle for 2 years now and also had lessons for the past 2 years. I started with a Sweetone, now I play a Susato (high D), but I’m thinking of getting me a Burke.
Three weeks ago a bought a Tony Dixon Low D and I like it, although it’s rather difficult to play, because I have small hands.
I’ve also learned a lot just by reading this board and still have a lot of catching up to do.
Glad to hear you’re learning lots here. This is a really fun place to be, and I know you’ll enjoy crusin’ around here. Keep on whistlin, and welcome aboard!
This is the place to be if you are a whistle player. They even let those of us who can barely play join in. Sometimes we talk about other things besides whistles. A few more whistle purchases would be nice. They won’t help you play better but it is so satisfying to have just one more.

Ron! Let the poor thing get acclimated before introducing WhOA!!
Welcome, butterfly. We are a nutty bunch (some nuttier than others ), but there’s no better place to be than here!
Butterfly…welcome…two years lessons…you must surely be brilliant by now! I’ve spent the last two months in a cold garage trying to learn to play a Susato high D, a Chieftan F and an Overton low D. I’m 65 and by the time I reach your standard should be about ninety, if I last that long. But I am still on the lookout to see what whistle I should buy next…fancy a wooden one but Which? Best wishes Les.
