New to the idea...what to buy...

True. I posted in haste and am sorry. I’m having frustrations with a new design and I’m torn as to where the problems lie: embouchure hole cut, my embouchure, bore / length ratio, or throat ‘openness’.

Have you got the 1st octave:
OOO OOO
XOO OOO
XOX XXX
all balanced out then?

Yep! Happy as a clam.
I’m using a variation on the Tipple design (with wedge) out of aluminum, but I finally added a PVC lip plate to extend the chimney.
Net result: session-type volume, low D that barks the way I want, and enough flexibility to lip around my intonation problems. Yesterday I made a co-worker cry when I was playing airs on this flute at lunch. Sorry, Erin, but I took it as a compliment.
