Just thought I’d share this one as it’s one I hadn’t seen before.
Dear Elizabeth Walsh,
Thank you for contacting PayPal. (Which I didn’t)
To fulfill your name change request, we need additional information. Please provide the following documentation:
A copy of your marriage License/certificate. (I haven’t gotten married or changed my name recently)
Note: For security reasons, do not send the original documents. A photocopy is sufficient. (Gee, I’m glad they are so concerned about my security)
To assist you more efficiently, please include a cover letter with the primary email address, current name, address, and telephone number listed on the PayPal account. In addition, please include the reason for the name change and the new name being requested. Fax or mail the requested documentation to: (They don’t ask for much, do they?)

PayPal, an eBay Company
Golly, who would go to all that trouble? Maybe it is a real thing from PayPal and they just made a mistake. A scammer wouldn’t get far asking for all that stuff it doesn’t seem like. Very strange! Thanks for the warning.
Some of these phishing scams are so funny as to not be believed. Others look REALLY good.
If you have a PayPal acct and you get one of these that looks real, go to the REAL PayPal site directly and sign in to your own account. If the info is real, it will be there. Ditto for eBay, Amazon, etc. NEVER click on the links in such e-mails.
For reasons such as this, I don’t have Paypal. I have used eBay seldomly. With online shopping, if I can buy it with a check/MO, I will. Now I’m not dissing these services. I have friends who say that Paypal is a godsend, and there are some really interesting things on eBay, but I’m set with a Walmart down the road.
