NEW C&F FORUM: CHIFF & FIPPLE CITY GUIDE

I asked Rich to start a new forum on the C&F boards in response to many carefully reasoned requests since 1996.

It’s the Chiff & Fipple City Guide. It’s on the forum list.

Go there and click on the STICKY for instructions on how to post.

Thanks!

Dale

Sessions are informal gatherings of other sorts of traditional music playing too…we have Welsh sessions, English sessions, there are also Breton ones from time to time on the Welsh/English border. No doubt there are Scottish ones too  .

And to think that my humble post helped to inspire something positive.

Thank you. If I were Irish, you could accuse me of bias.

Dale

Is that a non-answer then? Or do I assume that we can include other varieties of trad sessions too  ?

Trisha

This is a great idea. I wish there were a session in Santa Cruz for me to post about. I’m looooonnnly!

Redwolf

Sure. But, if you’ll look back at your post, you didn’t ask a question.

Thanks,

Dale

Right, you are right, so right  .

Would there be a good reason not to post regarding traditional instrumental English, Welsh, Scottish, and Breton (also being Celtic) sessions worldwide in addition to ITM, as long as this is stated in the verbage?

Thanks,

Trisha

Au contraire, as Miss Piggy might put it. Indeed the fact that most if not all posts so far have failed to make it clear that they are about Irish sessions is a clear reflection of Irish arrogance and cultural imperialism  .

I think that’s a fine idea.

Thank you.

Dale

Hello - have started a number of sessions, initially to encourage new players to “have a go” ensemble (as Miss Piggy almost certainly said) and more than one has turned into a showcase for fiddlers etc., but in 10 mins I am off to the latest one. We play French, English, Irish, Scots and some Russian tunes, sing odd songs, and don’t take turns. Any session is better than none at all.

Slainte my dearios,
Patrick
