Sessions are informal gatherings of other sorts of traditional music playing too…we have Welsh sessions, English sessions, there are also Breton ones from time to time on the Welsh/English border. No doubt there are Scottish ones too .
Would there be a good reason not to post regarding traditional instrumental English, Welsh, Scottish, and Breton (also being Celtic) sessions worldwide in addition to ITM, as long as this is stated in the verbage?
Au contraire, as Miss Piggy might put it. Indeed the fact that most if not all posts so far have failed to make it clear that they are about Irish sessions is a clear reflection of Irish arrogance and cultural imperialism .
Hello - have started a number of sessions, initially to encourage new players to “have a go” ensemble (as Miss Piggy almost certainly said) and more than one has turned into a showcase for fiddlers etc., but in 10 mins I am off to the latest one. We play French, English, Irish, Scots and some Russian tunes, sing odd songs, and don’t take turns. Any session is better than none at all.
