OK, then why not just have the whistle surgically attached to your mouth? Who needs to eat? Actually, I like the idea of the tracking device.
Yeah, I got to thinking about this after a bunch of whistles made by a retired maker went missing. They were of course irreplaceable at that point. The errant whistles were not mine. But as we got talking about it I mentioned the whistles that Pat O’Riordan once made that came with a lanyard threaded through a hole in the whistle head, right through the fipple. That is not as secure as one that is surgically attached but it keeps the whistles from rolling away and into someone else’s pocket. So that hole through the head got me thinking. What else could you do with that space? And the idea of sealing a RFID device in there came to mind. Seems a bit far fetched unless you’ve lost some impossible to replace whistles.

There are also some recorders for kids that have a string attached that goes around your neck. Though I lost mine I think as I was carrying it out to my car. So dumb of me.
