Brad,
Enjoyed that reel you posted (Teampaill whatever). More please!
In fact, I’ll take it from anyone. I’m compiling good stuff for a young lady who has taken up the flute/whistle and needs exposure to the feel of it all.

Thanks, but there are much better players to listen to than me (and that’s not false modesty…I’ve been playing a long time but I still have a long way to go before I come close to meeting my standards!).
For exposure to a range of flute playing styles, I’d recommend the Wooden Flute Obsession CDs (http://www.worldtrad.org/), which provide a good range of solidly traditional and more modern approaches to playing Irish music on the flute.
Also don’t overlook the great recordings of mostly older flute players in the “flute geezers” MP3s, available online: http://www.lafferty.ca/music/irish/flute-geezers/ (these were converted to MP3 by bil mckenty from a tape provided by a mutual friend of ours in England).
Also check out the excellent whistle MP3s on Brother Steve’s whistle pages:

That should get you a good collection of stuff for your friend!
