I went to my flute lesson yesterday, and my teacher had a new fishbowl
on his desk. In it was a betta that he had named āMacBethā. I thought
it appropriate.
Iām so glad that you rescued him, Lamby. How sad it is that the employees didnāt even care to look at their own inventory, thus allowing them to die! It makes me want to put them into a bowl, not feed them or give them a clean place to lay their heads, and see how they like it
Irony? What irony? Iām serious. I named him āCranberryā because of his lovely color. Heās exactly the color of fresh, ripe New England cranberries. Everyone thinks the name fits.
Cranberries are one of my favorite snacks. Should I refuse to eat them? Turn up my nose at cranberry juice? Boycott Thanksgiving celebrations . . . just in case?
Besides, heās got me blocked, so that post was officially invisible to him. The rule is that if youāve announced that youāve blocked someone, you cannot complain further about their posts. You cannot eat your cake and still have it.
Clove oil is an anaesthetic to fish. It has to be administered very specifically, but in larger amounts it can be used as a painless form of euthanasia, for fish. They go to sleep and never wake up.
Update: BRIGITTE IS DEAD! Oh no. This is why I dislike ryukins. They have a tendency to die. Grr.
Her tank was cycled and everything. Iāve had tanks running of the same mosquito fish (Lat. Heterandria formosa) for three years, and the same gourami for 2 years, so I really think ryukin goldfish are simply cursed, but so pretty.
Hereās an adult photo of one, why I like them so much:
In a few months I will be traveling out of state, and I might try to get another one, if I think itāll live. Theyāre sooooo pretty.
It really pisses me off. I wish they wouldnāt die. Mary Baker Eddy had a long illness, and Brigitte just simply decided to die, or something. Thereās a theory that because of their body shape, ryukins have more health problems. Blah. Blah.
The Japanese ones are hardy (they stretch back a long way). In America they tend to be less so. It sucks. If anybody is going to Japan soon, tell me and Iāll give you the money to bring me back a fish.
Maybe this is just Cran expressing frustration at the inexorablility of mortality.
You could just as easily say āThis is why I dislike stars. They eventually go nova.ā
Iām sorry Cran. They really are pretty fishā¦maybe this one had something from the pet shop? I bought a fish from a shop once, and it turned out it had Ick, and died shortly after.
Was itzund prächtig blüht, soll bald zertreten werden.
Als schlechte Nichtigkeit, als Schatten, Staub und Wind;
Als eine Wiesenblum, die man nicht wiederfindāt.
Noch will, was ewig ist, kein einig Mensch betrachten!
