Most vibrant and bright sound?

Do you know any chanter that has a very bright and vibrant sound? I’m trying to explore more of those types of sounds

Koehler & Quinn D chanters, reeded by B. Koehler, have a distinctively bright and crisp tone that I could identify anywhere. You have to hear them live and acoustic to appreciate them.

Most of the chanters I have heard which are copies of Rowsome chanters tend toward the bright side. To me, vibrant, is more of how the chanter is played, rather than a characteristic of the chanter itself.

I’ve been playing a Michael Keenan recently and it’s one of the brightest sounding chanters I’ve played.
I might even make a few copies of it next year.

Ebony chanters are brighter aren’t they?

I have two chanters by the same maker. One is a light brown wood and sounds good in its own way but duller in tone than the ebony one.

Ebony can be bright, depending on the quality of the wood, oil treatment and the reed.

But it’s typically the most balanced of all the woods used for pipes. As in not too bright in the high notes, not too dull in he low notes.

Interesting. Did you try the same reed in each chanter?

I was thinking along similar lines. Ebony is rich in harmonics and tone while blackwood is generally the brighter one. All other things being equal ofcourse.
