I just received a Korg micro metronome, the Metrognome. It fits comfortably at the outside of my ear canal, with the aid of a little clip (much more comfortable than clip earrings). The little click/chirp sound is plenty loud enough for me to detect over my loudest whistle, and yet at a very comfortable level. The mode and speed buttons are operable even while the unit is in place on my ear. This makes a useful companion for my Laughing and Hoover Narrow Bore whistles.
I’ve been wanting a very portable metronome for a long time, and when I saw the promos for this one, I decided to wait until it was released on the market. I just got this one from Elderly for 20.00.
When you get one, don’t throw away the box until you find the battery taped obscurely on a cardboard insert. Then, follow the directions very carefully–the unit is so small it is difficult at first to distinguish between moveable and stationary parts.

Hmm…
Interesting technology.
I can see it know, the sign at the session’s pub …
*Gnomes required of all bodhran players and must be worn at all times

Lee, don’t forget that the possession of a metronome doesn’t guarantee that the bodhran player will actually LISTEN to it.

Our bodhran player says he sent his back because it was defective. It kept slowing down on him.

LMAO. That is toooo funny!
Mac Users: I was looking for the MetroGnome on the web yesterday and came acorss a terrific freeware metronome for OS X, also called MetroGnome. It really rocks and looks cool, too. I gives you the ability to put subdivisions to the beat, which is nice. It’s the best software metronome I’ve seen so far, anyway.

(I think there a metrognome for Windows also, but don’t know if there is a connection.)
I downloaded a nice pc free metronome at http://www.reddoorint.com
It’s basic.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention!
I’m going to scour the music shops in the Charing Cross Road tomorrow and see if I can pick one up!
cheers, Martin
