Merry Christmas to me!

Hey, my new flute arrived yesterday! It’s a beauty. A Lehart 6-key with a RH Bb key and extended G# key (alas, I have short fingers). Since I’m so excited I thought I’d share some pictures:

Sitting in Jordan’s lovely case (thanks, Jordan!):

The RH Bb key on the bottom:

I love the look of the copper rings and the silver keys!

Edit: Here’s a sound clip: The Noisy Curlew

Congratulations - Merry Xmas and happy tootling! Do we get a sound sample? I take it the R hand Bb is for R thumb operation? I think you’ll have to be very careful with that high-rise C nat key, though - looks rather vulnerable to me!

Thanks! Uh, sound sample . . . may take a day or two. Yes, the RH Bb is for R thumb operation. I play using piper’s grip. About the C natural key, I have another Lehart with the same key and I’ve never had a problem with it. It’s pretty sturdy. That flute has had a few owners before me (I bought it from a C&F member) and has never had a problem. But I am very careful of it anyway.

Looks like the pictures won’t be viewable for another hour or so. Stupid Geocities and their data transfer limit!

Hey Tiff,

EXCEEDINGLY LOVELY TOOT!

I really really like the silver, copper and brass mix. Great contrast to the usual monochromatic flute.

I’ve got to try a LeHart sometime.

Good Yule!

The pics don’t show for me. Seems that Geocities thinks they caused too much traffic. :frowning:

wolf whistle … That shore is purty.

OK, I dumped Geocities and went with ImageShack. You should be able to see the pictures now.

Nice one. This is the first new Lehart I ever saw. Looks very nice!

Hi Tiff-
Beautiful flute and it couldn’t have come at a better time for you. Congrats on the purchase and enjoy it. I too love the copper rings-gorgeous. I love the Bb and the extended G# keys. Can’t wait to hear how it plays:) Enjoy the holidays!

Wow, nice flute! Lehart’s flutes really honk!
I guess you don’t need those other old flutes I fixed up for you…

(Just kidding, I am sending them) :smiling_imp:

Yeah, the bottom D on a Lehart flute is very strong and can really be pushed. And of course I need those flutes you worked on, Jon! I’ve been missing them. I’d love to send you the old Lehart to work on as soon as the new one is broken in. There are a few minor things that I’d like taken care of before I sell it.

Sounds good, they are ready to ship after the Christmas rush! Do you know what model flute Lehart uses, his flutes seem to have a Prattenish quality to them, as in loud honkers…

I’m afraid I don’t know enough about the different flute models to tell you which Lehart uses. Like you said, it can be a honker and the holes seem somewhat larger than a Rudall but it breaks down into four pieces so I have no idea.

WOW Tiffany, that flute looks fantastic!! Congratulations…how long did you have to wait and if you don’t mind my asking, how much did it set you back?

That’s one purty tooter. Whenever I see a pic like that, I cry a little about my allergy and inability to even touch such a wonderous looking creature.

Get to playin!

Hey Ben! Glad you like the flute. From the time I actually ordered it I only had to wait about three weeks until it made it here from France. (!) At the time I contacted Lehart he had some keyless flutes done and ready for keying so it was wonderful timing. After shipping and Euros conversion I ended up paying about $1750 for it.

How’s your Grinter coming?

I added a sound clip to the original post. I haven’t had time this week to really play the thing like I should have been but thought I’d give it a go anyway. Please excuse the poor recording technology!

Nice rhythmic playing. You certainly get a better sound from your Lehart than me from any Lehart I tried (two older ones, actually).

Thanks for the sound clip, Tiffany - very enjoyable.
