Medical Question

But that meant finding two pictures, and I feel far too lazy for that today!

Sigh. So puerile.

 I’ll bet that he doesn’t say that whilst drinking the cheap chianti that you spoke of in another thread. In my mind, it’s only the best for Mr. Lector.

Sorry Tom…I didn’t mean to hijack. I honestly don’t know what to offer as advice. I think what Tyg said sounded the most plausible, and I second the cushy toilet seat. It very well could help. I hope you can figure it out!

Ahem… puts me in mind of a good joke…

This ol’ hillbilly and his wife are probably the basis for the tune “Growling old Man and Cackling old Woman”…

She: Henry!

He: Ayup, Ethel…

She: Henry, c’mon down hyar to the outhouse fer a minit.

He: Ethel, I’s busy …

She: Whatcher busy doin?

He: Settin!

She: Henry, git yore arse down hyar rite now! I needs ya ta fix this here seat in the outhouse.

He: I’s a comin’, hold yer hosses…

Henry arrives at the outhouse, looks around, disinterestedly and says, “What’s the problem, Ethel?”

She: Thet thar seat needs some fixin. See to it.

Ethel heads back up to the house.

Henry actually opens the outhouse doors and peers in. It doesn’t look too bad to him. In fact, he takes a moment to relieve himself before heading back out to the porch to regain his seat in the rocker.

Ethel sees him sit back down. "Henry! Git you self back down thar and fix that there outhouse seat right now!

Henry knows he’d best get to it so he picks up his hammer and a handfull of nails and trudges back down the path.

He: Ethel, I don’t see what the heck yer talkin’ about. Thar ain’t nuthin’ wrong with that there seat!.

She: You looked at it close?

He: yeah

She: Look at it good and close.

He leans in a bit and peers down into the depths. The seat does have some cracks and the like, but it doesn’t seem problematical to him. "I still don’t see what yer so all fired het up about.

She stomps down the path and stands behind him, arms crossed. “Henry, lean in good and close.”

Henry leans in good and close.

She: A little lower.

He leans a little lower.

She: Put yer fool head in far enuff to see under that rim.

He sticks his head in almost through the hole. “I still don’t see nothin’” As he goes to raise his head, his beard hairs get caught in the rough cracks of the seat and he can’t get his head up. “OW! OWW!”

Ethel hollers back over her shoulder as she heads back to the kitchen, "Now yas gets it! "

Annie! That was one of the best jokes I’ve read in a while! Thanks for posting it

Where on earth is Dr. Amar?

I ask you, what if this had been a medical emergency? Hmmm? What then?

sorry! had a busy day!
well, hard to say, but my best shot is also syncope, due to pressing while sitting, is your dad constipated?
orthostatic hypotension could be a good shot too, there one feels quite dizzy after standing up, to the extent that you might even fall down and lose consciesccousocucussness (spelling?;)) for a very short while.
does your dad take enough fluids? how’s his bloodpressure?

ahh, got next week off.

Thanks, I’ll check those, also.

Tom

Usually, my dad has diarreah problems, and is not constipated. In this particular instance, I’m not certain. My dad drinks a lot and lot of water. He does has high blood pressure, is on a number of meds and it ends up being partially controlled. Dad is always weak and falls down often. I suspect it’s due to his renal problems and it just may be at this point that he is as good as he is going to get- something that I’m having difficulty dealing with, because it suggests to me that he may be starting a downhill process that won’t be able to be stopped.

I’m sure for the recent event, my dad, or my brother, will find out what the doctor’s said.

I appreciate everyone’s responses, thanks. Tom

deferred consciousness, amar?

if he often has diarrhea, and is on various med, i’m just guessing he may be on diuretics too, and he is feeling week and wobbly, then for one thing be sure he gets regular blood checks, while especially keeping an eye on his sodium and potassium levels in his blood. low sodium levels can be a side-effect of diarrhea, diuretics, or even in some cases by drinking too much if combined with kidney-deficiency.

You seem to know about this. Have you studied medicine?

yeah, I did. am working at the local geriatric hospital at the moment.

Just joking. I already knew that.

that’s funny…I thought they paid you to torment cats… :stuck_out_tongue:

Where he’s known as that nice young doctor who keeps muttering “It’s red, red I tell you…”

Amar: Thanks, I appreciate it. My dad actually gets bloodwork drawn every week.

At least what you say jives with what type of treatment my dad has, so it is somewhat reassuring that they appear to be doing the correct things. I’m not a fan of my dad’s GP, but I do like his kidney doc. My dad isn’t always that forthcoming with his docs, which is of course, a really bad thing. Every now and then, if I think he is not telling them something that is vital, I fax his kidney doc a note, explaining what is going on.

Again, Thanks.

no, i do that for free. :smiling_imp:

my pleasure tom

He’s a sadist gigolo?

Oh, I see. He’s just a sadist.
