Many pipers/one stage!

Yall,

We have posted some pictures from last weekend’s Irish Fair (irishfair.com) that show some of our club’s members (up to eight!) performing. I can safely say that Minnesota, in all if its grand and rich history, has never seen that many uilleann pipers in one spot performing publicly.

Dear God… WHY???

Patrick.

Don’t think I didn’t ask the same thing to myself. Good thing we had dancers at one point to distract the crowd before things got ugly.

And yet still no pictures of the '06 GNIPC Tionól… very curious indeed.

No (photographic) E(vidence)

Don’t look at me

…and who the hell let Tom wear shorts? For the love a…

PD.

All very gardenly what with the hat, don’t you think?

When I think about it, the popping strap IS a bit redundant. I mean, his legs aren’t THAT hairy…

While I’m at it… I think I see the Cheerleader in his lap in the more long view shot… any CU’s of that baby with Tom playing her?

PD.

None up on the GNIPC website yet. That’s one sweet-looking set! And Tom does it proper justice, I think.

That’s my good-luck Madagascar hat. It embued the event with an aura of fresh vanilla and lemur dung.

Tom let Tom where shorts. I’m not beyond showin’ a little leg every now and then. Spices up the act…after a fashion. You might say there wasn’t a dry seat in the house

'cause it was raining like crazy!

06? How about 05? Things run at a relaxed pace up there in Minnesota.

I was the fashionable one. Of course, I was also the sunburnt one. Both of Tommy’s new sets are humdingers.

We managed to play tunes in D, C and B and some people actually sat through the caterwauling.
As to the question of why, well, when someone gives you an opportunity to put half-a-dozen pipers on stage in a public forum you just don’t say no. That doesn’t mean it should be done. It’s like climbing Everest.

As for the tionól pics - I’ve said it before, until I actually get some pictures of the event, there will be no pics. I may have to retain the talents of a police sketch artist and have things drawn up.

I sent in a few photos from 05 to Tommy, and (I thought) you as well… or vice versa. Anyhoo, I forgot to bring the camera thingy last time, and I’m still kicking myself for it. There were some truly magical moments at Tionol HQ Friday and Saturday. What a great time and great tunes. My head still rings with music of the B sessions.

Here’s a look at Tommy’s new Rogge B. What a beauty, both in tone and looks.

That’s my Rogge D set, né 1999-2000.

I am really working on the photo thing. Sheeesh!

See? See what happens when you leave things up to me? BTW, I have mailed both yourself and Patrick a memory bombs worth of photos… again… I’ll accept no more excuses or finger pointing… but I will accept large sums of cash… lots of zeros after a 1…

We have a thing about not wanting to appear too pushy.

I have magically received photos from the 2005 tionól so I’ll be adding some of those this week.

This is my Rogge B set

and me playing them in shorts last century  98/99 Willie Week

and me playing them at Celtic Connections in January  I had been out hill walking prior to the concert and unfortunately went on stage forgetting about my gaiters and didnae realise until after the gig…the floor manager was desperately pointing at my legs when I sat down but I just thought he was odd :boggle: Oh and there was meant to be a mandolin player and a fiddler with me but they got lost at the bar in another venue..typical,thats live music for ye :really:

Slán Go Foill
Uilliam

BTW, if you check out the topmost photo on the first page, you’ll note the THERMO KING® unit behind the stage. Its diesel generator was a boon. No one could tell if we needed to tune up.
