Making very little progress on the whistle...

I agree, Nico. I’ve heard that ‘slow airs’ are a type of tune, but according to this guy’s video, that’s the name of this particular song:

"the song “Slow Air" is from Ally Mackenzie and Colin Melville published on their CD “Fits O’ Giggles” (look in iTunes)”

In this case, I think that “Slow Air” is kind of like saying “Untitled Waltz”.

As to the original poster, I have been playing whistles for two and a half years or so. I still can’t play the Kesh Jig (And many other jigs and reels) at speed. I learned the Monaghan Jig, which is a very complicated piece (Mary Bergin’s version) by repeatedly listening to each of the four parts individually over and over again over the course of several weeks. It seemed impossible at first, but I can play the whole thing now, and with a decent amount of speed. My playing has vastly improved (and I play nearly every day), and I trust my speed will eventually get to where I’d like it to be, but it’s a slow process that requires commitment. I get compliments from everyone but my family now (they still hate my whistles).

To be fair, I only recently began attempting jigs and reels, as I didn’t have much interest in them until late last year. My playing has improved more rapidly as I have forced myself into faster tunes.

Yea, maybe they should change the name. =) The original is here:
