M&E Question

Am I damaging my M&E polymer flute to leave it assembled for days at time? I play frequently in fifteen minute snatches of time and find it laborious to always reassemble the thing for such little periods.

Thanks,
Jeff

I sure hope not, because I only take mine apart to transport it. And I don’t transport it often.

dat’s why ya got a polymer flute…and they bounce better…

No.

Right on. Thanks

How could you damage it?

Beat someone up with it? Hammer nails with it? Pry open a bank vault with it?

I leave both my Seery and my M&E R&R assembled all the time. They live on my computer desk, where they are handy if I can grab a couple of quick minutes to knock out some tunes.

There are days when that kind of snatch-a-tune-in-a-hurry playing is the only playing I get to do, so these flutes are really valuable to me for just that reason.

The most delicate part of any flute is the far side of the embouchure hole.

That’s where a polymer flute is most likely to get damaged, IMO.

Care should always be taken with flutes, even with polymer ones.
