Low G with a little chiff

A few weeks ago, I asked for recommendations for a low A with a little chiff. I got a lot of good advice, and ended up buying a Chieftan A from a fellow board member. I’m very pleased with this whistle. It’s not that loud, but it does have a very nice sound, a little chiff, and it plays great.(IMHO)

The only low G I have now is a Susato, and although it’s loud, it just doesn’t have that chiffy sound I like. I’m looking for a used, moderately priced,($50-$100) low G. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the Water Weasel. Any recommendations? Anybody have a low G for sale? No Susatos, please.

How about a Shaw? I bought myself one last month, and I really like it. It has a lovely, mellow tone and it fits my hands nicely. I paid $90 for it. Only drawback I can think of is it’s not tuneable, but that doesn’t bother me.

I have a Chieftan G I’d part with…drop me a note if you’re interested.

You can get a new Eyer low G for around $80. I won’t part with mine. Great whistle.

Scott,
What is an Eyer?
Thanks,
Nathan

Scott - Also never heard of Eyer; can you tell us something about the maker, etc.

Thanks

John Eyer makes an aluminum whistle that looks a lot like an Overton, but has a white Delrin plug. It’s tunable. I don’t have his contact info anymore, but I think you could find him with a Google search. He’s here in the states. If I remember correctly, he said he likes to place his whistles between a Copeland and an Overton in their nuances. I’ve never owned an Overton, but the tone of this whistle is really nice. Medium breath requirement, good volume, nice chiff and quick response. Sounds more trad with a little sweetness.

I did a search on Google and there are a lot of guys out there with his name! Unless you can find him, it is going to remain a mystery!
Thanks !
Nathan

I searched the memberlist of the board. He’s listed there with his email addy. Just alphabetize the list and look under his name.
