Do you need brain surgery? If so then you could always go to the Ukraine!

Yes, thanks. I’m familiar with the use of electrical hand-drills in surgery. :stuck_out_tongue:

In the March 2008 issue of Dr. Andrew Weil’s “Self Healing” there is an article about this topic entitled “Medical Tourism’s Allure - Crisscrossing the globe in search of better care”. Dr. Weil writes, "A friend of mine raves about the successful hip replacement surgery she had in Belgium after failing to find the level of care she wanted in the United States. And she’s not alone. Nearly half a million Americans are expected to seek medical treatment abroad this year, fueling the growth of medical tourism. In fact, I would consider it myself if the need arose. I think the risks of being in a US hospital are increasing on account of financial constraints that have lowered the quality of care. Many countries have responded well to the resulting business opportunity.

Top destinations such as India, Thailand, Singapore, and Costa Rica can be attractive alternatives for procedures such as dental work, LASIK eye repair, and even heart surgery and cancer treatments…The main attraction fo medical tourism is that patients can save up to 75 percent if they travel abroad. But money is not the only reason. Some foreign hospitals are better staffed and offer top-notch care and luxury amenities such as spa services, high-end restaurants, and recovery retreats. The downside is that, in addition to being far from home, most health insurers don’t cover procedures abroad, and if something goes wrong, a foreign legal system can be a nightmare."
