Hello
,
Where can I get review on Low C whistle?
Cheers,
I have an Alba Low C. Quite different from Overton, and somewhat breathy. I like the way it sounds ![]()
Is it a Q1??
yep it’s a Q1. I got a nontunable one from http://www.bigwhistle.co.uk, and currently they have Q1’s available (tunable).
Just to keep things in the realm’s of reality. ![]()
I only make Low C in the Q1 style it has not got the same blade shape as the Soprano D though. ![]()
stefpat, just go ahead and get the Alba low C!
You won’t regret it. ![]()
I know…I already have…1x Alba Low D, 1x Alba High D, 1x Alba High D…Q1…
FWIW, Howard makes a low C, which is good.
I can’t compare to other low C whistles,
never having played them.
and the copeland low C will be out shortly…
I just had an Alba low C here for a visit. Even I could play it. I do not have the lung capacity because of cardiac problems but I could play this low C. The hand stretch is easy. In addition it has a great sound and is a beautiful whistle. It matches my Q1 perfectly.
Ron
Ditto Ron!
I hated to send it off to the next in line.
It is on my want list. It was even easier to play than my Alba low D!
Cheers,

When can I find a review on Overton (Bariton) Low C ?
Thanks…
Alba LOW C = extraordinary whistle.
It has a finger stretch and hole size to beat some low 'D’s,yet is still expressionistic.
All whistles are a compromise of characteristics-low whistles more so because of the physical constraints of the Human hand (and Human lung! ![]()
I haven’t had the good fortune to try an Overton Low ‘C’,but the Alba low ‘C’ seems to deliver the goods for me.

Kev.
The cash is in the mail ![]()
I have an Overton Low C and am waiting my turn on the Alba Low C. I will be able to give a better comparison in a few weeks once I am through with my turn.
For the time being the Overton is a very nice instrument with a finger spread that is doable for me, especially after getting a Bass A and playing that for a time.
Alba. I love my Alba which I actually bought from IDAwHOa.
I HAVE A OVERTON LOW C I LOVE IT IT GIVES A VERY HAUNTING SOUND, THE ONLY THING IS IT IS NOT A VERY POPULAR KEY DAVY SPILLANE USES ONE BUT IT IS A C# OR A Cb i have to transpose the sound to get it in tune with him i dont use it much mostly i use the low D or the low A ( davy used to use overtons but i think they got into it one day so now he makes his own they look the same to me but davy has a good reputation of tweeking his whistles so nobody will copy him, so i am told)
How is the gap between holes? Is it easy to play. I have a Overton low D Tenor Short Reach.
I’m afraid that the spacing between holes is too high
is your low d made to be a low reach or is it standard, if it is standard you should be fine i have small hands and i play a low A ,you just have to play with your fingers not your fingertips ,hand positioning on low whistles is not like a flute or a tin whistle my fingers are spread out and the middle of my fingers are over the holes, reach is always a problem i think at first ,then i guess you just find a way to cover the holes, as far as the gap i think they are about the same it is just about 2 inchs longer and a little fatter. why do you want a low C , they are not that common
With a low C, I can play major key C/F/G and minor key d/g/a
Low G is interesting too major G/C/D and minor a/d/e
Lot of song is C
