I’m trying to find a tuneable blackwood piccolo (in the key of D) to play, preferably a 19th century one in playable condition. I used to have a nice Boosey and Co six-key one that I played loads but then after losing it (tragedy) I never found one that was a solid player. I play left-handed so in practice the only keys I will really need working are the short F and the C.
If you know of one or have one lying around that you realise you never play now, can you message me and say, or post on here if you’d like to share pics and info with other users. I would consider a new made one, but feel there is probably better value in all the old ones that people tend not to play in sessions.
NB I am based in the UK, but postage shouldn’t come to much for a tiny piccolo.
NB 2 John Doonan taught me how to play Carolan’s Concerto on the piccolo!
